It's
official: I
want to be St.
Albert's next
mayor

This morning I announced my intention
to be the next Mayor of St. Albert.
The Clock
Tower Park in downtown St. Albert,
on the corner of Perron Street and
Sir Winston Churchill Avenue, was
a great spot for the news conference - it's
part of the Arts & Heritage District
and a centre of business activity.
I treasure the vibrancy and life
that our Downtown has and I have
a strong commitment to keeping our
city centre as a "People Place".
I was honoured
to be surrounded by so many supporters
as I announced my candidacy: my
family, members of the St. Albert
Economic Development Advisory Committee,
colleagues from the Chamber of Commerce
and other local business people,
and friends came out in droves.
Jackie Heitzman, a successful businesswoman
in St. Albert and a former President
of the St. Albert Chamber of Commerce,
did a terrific introduction
before I spoke. With such a strong
show of support to kick things off,
I know our campaign work will go
smoothly, and we will stay focused
on the goal of having me in the
Mayor's
chair for the next
term.
With the
sun shining brightly, and a number
of children wearing "Grandma
for Mayor" buttons, I spoke
of my commitment
to St. Albert and
my vision for our city. My speaking
notes and the notes
Jackie used are posted on this web
site for you to read.
As the next
few months unfold,
I will be presenting my platform
as my commitments to this community.
I'm looking forward
to the hard work,
careful deliberation and opportunities
to meet many of our residents and
to articulate my vision for our city
as we move into the future.
