Mayoralty candidate forums provide opportunities to share my vision of our community
Over the last few weeks I’ve had several opportunities to share my vision of our community with St. Albert residents at a variety of mayoral candidate forums. The traditional forum sponsored by our Chamber of Commerce was held at the St. Albert Inn on September 28th. This well-attended forum was the first opportunity for our electorate to hear from all five mayoral candidates. Once again, I was honoured to be surrounded by so many supporters, many of whom wore their blue Lynda Moffat for Mayor – Your Positive Choice! T-shirts. I told the assembled audience what voting Moffat for Mayor means because I want all voters to know what you can expect when I’m elected. I also provided an overview of my record, my style, and my platform. My speaking notes for this first forum are posted on this web site for you to read.
In addition to the open forums, I’ve also been pleased to receive invitations to some audience-specific presentations. I’ve spoken to groups of seniors at our local seniors’ housing facilities and to our military personnel at the base. Yesterday morning, I participated in the forum put on by Vincent J. Maloney School. Wow, what a wonderful opportunity for junior high school students to be introduced to democracy in action!
The forum co-sponsored by Shaw Television, CHED radio and the Edmonton Journal, which took place last evening, was broadcast live by SHAW and CHED. I understand that SHAW will rebroadcast this forum on Sunday afternoon for any voters who might have missed it last evening or who may wish to take another look. If you haven’t seen it yet, I encourage you to tune in on Sunday for the rebroadcast.
Our last formal forum, will be sponsored by the Edmonton and District Labour Council at 7:00 p.m. this evening at the St. Albert Inn. I’m looking forward to this final opportunity before election day on Monday to share my vision of our community in person with a group of St. Albert residents and to respond to their questions.
